6 Reasons for Menopause in Women

Menopause is a naturally occurring process in women's lives and is actually considered a “transitional period”. It usually occurs between the ages of 45-55 years and is identified with the complete cessation of menstruation. During this period, the body experiences certain changes, especially due to hormones. Each woman's experience of menopause can be different; some experience this process more comfortably, while others may experience more intense symptoms.

1. Reduction of Hormones

The most important cause of menopause is a decrease in estrogen and progesterone, the female hormones. These hormones affect many systems in the body. When they decrease, hot flashes, sudden sweats, dryness of the skin and a general state of tenderness may appear. At the same time, bone health can also be affected by this condition.

2. Disturbance of Menstrual Order

Menopause does not start at once. It is preceded by a transition process called “perimenopause”. During this period, menstruation becomes irregular; sometimes it may come early, sometimes late, or there may be a change in its quantity. Over time, menstruation is completely stopped, and the process of menopause begins.

3. Hot Flashes and Night Sweats

One of the most common and well-known symptoms of menopause is hot flashes. The sensation of intense heat that comes suddenly can be accompanied by redness in the face and neck area. Night sweats, on the other hand, can disrupt sleep and make it difficult for a person to rest.

4. Sleep Problems and Fatigue

Night sweats, frequent awakenings, and hormone changes can negatively affect sleep patterns. Poor quality sleep can also lead to fatigue, lack of attention and low energy during the day. This condition can directly affect everyday life.

5. Mood Changes

Emotional fluctuations during menopause are quite common. Women may feel more nervous, sensitive or sad. Sometimes irritability or a desire to cry may appear for no reason. This condition is entirely related to hormones and is temporary.

6. Vaginal Dryness and Sexual Disorders

Decreased hormone levels can cause thinning and dryness in the vaginal tissue. This condition can cause discomfort in everyday life, as well as pain during sexual intercourse. However, today there are various methods of treatment available to alleviate this condition.

What to Look Out For During Menopause

To spend this period more relaxed, some habits are quite useful:

  • Eating a balanced and healthy diet
  • Pay attention to calcium and vitamin D intake
  • Exercise regularly
  • Trying to stay away from stress
  • Not neglecting regular doctor checks

Menopause is not an end, but the beginning of a new period. Changes in the body are natural and manageable processes. With the right knowledge, regular follow-up and healthy lifestyle habits, it is possible to spend this period comfortably.
