Penile prosthesis implantation used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (erectile dysfunction), and when there is no response to interventional treatments or is inappropriate is a surgical method of treatment. The goal is to make sex life sustainable by providing a lasting and satisfying erection.

What is Penile Denture Implantation?

Penile prosthesis implantation is the process of inserting a custom-designed prosthesis (implant) into the penis. These prostheses, once inserted into the penile tissue, make sexual intercourse possible by providing erection-like rigidity at the patient's request.

This method offering a permanent solution and is one of the ED treatments with the highest satisfaction rates.

To whom Applicable?

It is usually preferred in the following cases:

  • If oral medications (sildenafil, tadalafil, etc.) are ineffective or cannot be used.
  • If no benefit has been seen from the vacuum device and injection treatments.
  • specifically diabetes, after prostate surgeries, vascular-caused or with a problem of progressive hardening in patients.
  • In men who have an active sex life, but are not able to provide constant rigidity.

Types of Penile Dentures

Malleable Dentures

  • It consists of two semi-rigid rods.
  • It can be lifted up and lowered by hand.
  • The probability of mechanical failure is very low.
  • It is more economical and easy to operate.

Inflatable (Inflatable) Denture

a. 2-Piece

  • It is inflated by the pump inserted into the scrotum.
  • Provides performance close to the natural look.

b. 3-piece (most advanced model)

  • Provides the most natural hardness and the most natural dull penis appearance.
  • It consists of reservoir (intra-abdominal), pump (scrotum) and cylinders.
  • Patient satisfaction is the highest option.

Advantages

  • Too high patient and partner satisfaction (90—95%).
  • Lasting and reliable result.
  • Outwardly, it is incomprehensible that it is a prosthesis.
  • Stiffness is provided at the desired moment.
  • The most effective remedy in ED after radical prostatectomy.

How Is Surgery Done?

  • Usually it is performed with general or spinal anesthesia.
  • It takes an average of 45—90 minutes.
  • Dentures are inserted into the penis through special channels.
  • Patients usually stay in the hospital for 1-2 days.
  • The transition to full use occurs in 4—6 weeks.

For stiffening disorder that does not respond to penile prosthesis implantation, medication or other treatments is the most effective and lasting treatment. In modern prostheses, both appearance and function are extremely natural, and the success in normalizing sexual life is very high.
